NOM-003-SCFI-2014 Electrical Safety Testing

Each electrical item requires lab testing and NOM certification for export to Mexico.  Two complete samples needs to be sent to Mexico for testing.  All testing items need to comply with NOM024 which is labeling compliance for all electrical/electronic items, please see labeling compliance section or click here.  Your item may need to have the energy consumption (LASE) tested.  If so, our rate does include the mandatory registration with Profeco and CONUEE which is service TechLink will address and be included in our quote.  Other items may contain remote controls or Bluetooth functions, this would require a registration or be compliant with NOM-208-SCFI-2016 which would be an additional required test. NOM003 takes approximately four weeks.  Items that require part two testing will take longer, but will be confirmed based on the type of item.  NOM-003-SCFI-2014 certificates are valid for one year.

NOM-003-SCFI-2014 was recently updated in 2014 and had several important updates.

• Previously only plug in items were only applicable to NOM-003-SCFI-2014, now items with less than 24V including battery operated items also apply.
• Toys are now part of NOM-003-SCFI-2014, not NOM-001-SCFI-1993
• NOM-003-SCFI-2014 contains Part two testing is required for specified items including fans, heaters, dry dryers, hair clippers, etc.

The following is required to process a NOM-003-SCFI-2014 project:

• Two complete samples shipped to Mexico.  See shipping instructions for further details.
• A complete detailed Electrical diagram including all plugs, fuses, etc
• Unlocked instruction manual in a PDF format
• Actual size PDF for the sell unit package
• Include any additional labels that maybe applied to your actual item
